The 5 “Ps” of Praying

  1. Passage:  Read Daily Gospel.
  2. Posture:  Relaxed and peaceful. A harmony of body and spirit.
  3. Place:  Where you are alone and uninhibited in your response to God’s presence.
  4. Presence of God:  Be aware of it and acknowledge and respond to it.
  5. Pray: Read the Gospel of the day very slowly aloud and listen carefully and peacefully to it.

Read aloud or whisper in a rhythm with your breathing – a phrase at a time, with pauses and repetitions when and where you feel like it.

Do not be anxious, do not try to look for profound thoughts.

Be content to be like a child who climbs into its mother’s lap and listens to her words and her story.

When you finish, remind yourself that God continues to live in you during the rest of the day.

Close with an Our Father.

St.-Zita-300x287If there is righteousness in the heart,
there will be beauty in the character.
If there is beauty in the character,
there will be harmony in the home.
If there is harmony in the home,
there will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation,
there will be peace in the world.
So let it be.
~ A Celtic Blessing
