helping Today I witnessed an incident that touched my heart and I just have to record it! Moments like these are God’s message of hope, love, joy, communion with people. We are all suffering and wounded, but we reach out to one another, wherever we may be. A smile, a touch, a little gesture to show I care, all helps restore our faith in God and brings peace to us and those around us.

Today I was at Mass and Our Lady’s Novena and as usual there are a lot of elderly, sick people at front rows of church, which is usually packed lunchtime. They all love this Novena to Our Lady and they are there with their little prayer books. Today I noticed parents come in front of me with a disabled son, they had their arm around him throughout the service while he knelt. A few of the congregation near to him turned around to smile at him especially and give him a little gift holy card, medal and rosary and say a few words to him, pat him on the back. It was such a lovely moment to feel welcomed as God’s family. Our churches are a haven, oasis of prayer for all. Some people feel disillusioned with life and become hardened, turn away from their faith even, blame people for past mistakes and it makes them bitter internally. But take heart, there is hope in Jesus!

Yesterday i went to Holy Mass because it was All Saints Day. In walks two young ladies who moved in besides me. I couldn’t believe the noise they made, talking loudly, discussing their mobile phones, and the new accessories they had on. One of them held her mobile phone and kept looking at it for messages. It got too much for me. The Mass had started and I could barely hear the prayers. Should I tell them off and risk an argument and disturb the peace? I prayed silently. Came the time for the first Reading, the wonderful Book of Revelation. I thought I am not going to miss this for the world, and they are missing out too! So I gently tapped the girl next to me and gestured with my fingers on my lips ‘shhh’ . She didn’t say a word! Quiet from then on and I fully participated in this wonderful liturgy with thankfulness to God for a peaceful resolution.

Every day we need some quiet time, time to reflect, pray for a few moments, and we need to block out noise and distractions. This is the only time when we talk directly to God and He will gently comfort us, love us and even give us answers to complex life questions.

The church is one place where we can find peace.

So let us make a conscious effort to be quiet and allow other people to share in that quiet and peaceful time.

Wishing you all a Very Happy & Blessed New Year 2013!

If you’re thinking about changing your life for the better, want to get back to living and walking this life with God, start today and take the first step. Its not hard to change your life, because with God all things are possible.

Some ways to start changing your life –

  1. Make an act of consecration to Our Lord by willing a change in your life and surrender your life into His hands.
  2. Visit your local catholic church and have a chat with the parish priest. The priest is more than happy to help you.
  3. Live a prayerful life. You can’t do it without prayer. Awake each  morning and say a short prayer of thanksgiving to Our Lord. You can pray the Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, if that is all you can remember. It just takes 1 minute!
  4. Try and make a daily timetable of adding prayer during different times of the day – on rising in the morning, mid-day at 12 with the Angelus, 3pm Divine Mercy prayer or chaplet (the chaplet will take 10 mins), night prayers before retiring to bed. You can add short supplications during the day ‘All for Thee O Sacred Heart of Jesus’, or ‘Thy will be done’, ‘Thank you Lord’, ‘Jesus I trust in Thee’.
  5. Rosary.
  6. Daily Mass. Some churches have early morning Mass at 7am or 8am. Some churches have mid-day service in the cities or evening Mass for people who finish work or school.
  7. Eucharistic Adoration. Spend a few quiet moments with the Lord Jesus and see how much love and Grace you receive into your heart to help you live your faith daily and strength to carry on through trials.
  8. Receive the Sacraments of Confession and Holy Communion regularly.
  9. Join church groups to live your faith more actively and get support from fellow christian to grow stronger in your faith.
  10. Give up any sin in your life and make a daily examination of conscience. Some people say they don’t sin, but if you examine your life you will find some things that can change. Things like gossip, slander against your neighbour, you pass on news about someone which you have heard from someone else but haven’t seen yourself, swearing, lying, laziness, addictions. If we don’t correct these little imperfections in our life, they will lead to other worse sins.
  11. If you can’t find any local church, there are plenty of online christian websites which have an abundance of resources. http://www.ewtn.com/ is a great catholic tv and online website.

“May the LORD bless you and keep you; May the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; May the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace”. (Numbers 6:24-26)

Have you attended Holy Mass recently?  Have you given up attending Holy Mass because of circumstances which have stopped you from doing so? Working on weekends, shift work? Maybe the temptation of attending the Footy match on a Sunday morning or sleeping in on a Sunday?  You can start again. The Lord is always waiting for you with open arms to come home and share in the Banquet with all His people.  Don’t let little things put you off attending Mass.  I find the Lord waiting for me in the Holy Eucharist, I feel His Love, speaking to me, comforting me.  No one else on this earth can touch your heart and soul like Jesus. Once you start going to Holy Mass, you will want to go every day. Daily Mass is only for 1/2 an hour.  I look forward to Sunday Mass with great joy, because its the Lord’s day, to give thanks and praise to Almighty Father, to be part of the Holy Catholic church in celebrating the Holy Eucharist, praying with one another, sharing in the Holy Eucharist together.

So why don’t you come along and celebrate with us the Holy Mass.  You will find immense joy and comfort in your soul, celebrating the Eucharist with our Saviour Jesus Christ, where He gives us Food for life’s journey.
